Stability Analysis of Large Time-Stepping Methods for Epitaxial Growth Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
Numerical methods for solving the continuum model of the dynamics of the molecularbeam epitaxy (MBE) require very large time simulation, and therefore large time steps become necessary. The main purpose of this work is to construct and analyze highly stable time discretizations which allow much larger time step than that for a standard implicitexplicit approach. To this end, an extra term, which is consistent with the order of the time discretization, is added to stabilize the numerical schemes. Then the stability properties of the resulting schemes are established rigorously. Numerical experiments are carried out to support the theoretical claims. The proposed methods are also applied to simulate the MBE models with large solution times. The power laws for the coarsening process are obtained and are compared with previously published results. On Approximate Stationary Radial Solutions for a Class of Boundary Value Problems Arising in Epitaxial Growth Theory
In this paper, we consider a non-self-adjoint, singular, nonlinear fourth order boundary value problem which arises in the theory of epitaxial growth. It is possible to reduce the fourth order equation to a singular boundary value problem of second order given by w''-1/r w'=w^2/(2r^2 )+1/2 λ r^2. The problem depends on the parameter λ and admits multiple solutions. Therefore, it is difficult to...
متن کاملStrongly stable multi-time stepping method with the option of controlling amplitude decay in responses
Recently, multi-time stepping methods have become very popular among scientist due to their high stability in problems with critical conditions. One important shortcoming of these methods backs to their high amount of uncontrolled amplitude decay. This study proposes a new multi-time stepping method in which the time step is split into two sub-steps. The first sub-step is solved using the well-...
متن کاملNumerical approximations for the molecular beam epitaxial growth model based on the invariant energy quadratization method
The Molecular Beam Epitaxial model is derived from the variation of a free energy, that consists of either a fourth order Ginzburg-Landau double well potential or a nonlinear logarithmic potential in terms of the gradient of a height function. One challenge in solving the MBE model numerically is how to develop proper temporal discretization for the nonlinear terms in order to preserve energy s...
متن کاملNew Applications on Linguistic Mathematical Structures and Stability Analysis of Linguistic Fuzzy Models
In this paper some algebraic structures for linguistic fuzzy models are defined for the first time. By definition linguistic fuzzy norm, stability of these systems can be considered. Two methods (normed-based & graphical-based) for stability analysis of linguist fuzzy systems will be presented. At the follow a new simple method for linguistic fuzzy numbers calculations is defined. At the end tw...
متن کاملNon-linear Analysis of Stability in the Islamic Banking Industry
Stability analysis is one of the most important fields of study in the Islamic banking and finance industry. For measuring stability in Islamic banking, we introduced, for the first time, an Islamic banking stability index (IBS) during 2013 to 2016 which use all CAMEL factors and so seems to be more comprehensive than Z-score stability index which dominantly used in the existing literatures. To...
